
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress choreographer, dancer, and activist. Her breakout moment came from her performance as Tina in the film Do the Right Thing (1989), and then White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez's performance as Tina , in Fearless (1993) brought her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Perez has appeared in a variety of films since the time with some of them being It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another for her role in The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). She has also appeared in Broadway stage productions such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. During the 18th season, she was a co-host on ABC's talk program The View. She was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. The year 1999 was the year her mother was in the middle class of Woodside Houses when she died of AIDS-related complications.
